North Strand Matters – March 2023
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF
EAST WALL ROAD

City Council officials involved with the Clontarf to City Centre project are proposing to implement a temporary road closure on East Wall Road between March 31st and April 17th next.
They are proposing that East Wall Road be closed to through traffic at the junction of North Strand Rd and Poplar Row at Annesley Bridge.
It is suggested that traffic diversions would apply in each direction Fairview Strand, Fairview, Clontarf Road and Alfie Byrne Road. See a map detailing the diversions below.
While a letter drop has been committed to by Dublin City Council, I am not convinced that this will occur and therefore, as your local Councillor, I felt it prudent to share this information with you well in advance of the proposed closure occurring.
Council officials have further argued that: “This closure shall mitigate the need for multiple weekend closures and enable the installation of drainage, watermain, fibre optic ducting and road construction on one side of the junction. The closure period is intended to align with the Easter holiday period when traffic volumes are expected to be lower than normal.”
If you have any specific questions or queries about the proposed temporary closure of East Wall Road, please email ActiveTravelOffice@dublincity.ie and include me in your contact, by emailing me at RayMcAdam@gmail.com.
