€495,000 investment in #NorthInnerCity projects

I have secured agreement among local Councillors as to how the discretionary Budget we control will be spent across the North Inner City this year.

In total €495,000 has been allocated to local Councillors to support the delivery of initiatives and projects under a number of specific headings, including:

  • Greening Interventions – €100,000
  • Community Events & Initiatives – €126,000
  • Public Domain Improvements – €104,000
  • Housing Precinct Improvements – €165,000

I am pleased that I have been able to get this agreement so that projects, I and my local Councillor colleagues are determined to see advanced this year. Full details of the initiatives involved are listed below:

Greening Interventions  

Live Christmas trees to replace harvesting – 2 locations  € 10,000

East Wall Greening € 40,000

Elizabeth Street Greening € 40,000

Community Initiatives / Community Events  

Community Initiatives (Le Gaeilge/Halloween/Nollag na mBan and others) € 67,000 GDDA History Project     € 10,000

Grangegorman events € 15,000

Female sports participation initiatives  € 20,000

Draiocht na Life; Evaluation € 2,000

New electrical connection & tap for East Wall Women’s Garden Club € 2,000

Replacement of street name plates   

Rewire the statue in Hardwicke Street € 2,500

New ‘Welcome to Arbour Hill’ sign € 2,500

Antidumping CCTV  € 15,000

North Strand post Cycle Lane initiatives  € 20,000

Additional weed treatment  € 15,000

Additional Litter Bins + wrapping € 14,000

Resurfacing roads / footpaths, Aughrim Pl, Kirwan St € 20,000

Rainbow Flag – Manor St € 5,000

Housing Precinct Improvements  

Gardiner Street/O’Brien Hall € 50,000

Sean O Casey Avenue/Summerhill – ongoing improvement works € 25,000

CCTV upgrades within complexes  € 20,000

Landscape the surrounding areas of Playground in Henrietta House &  Dermot O’Dwyer € 10,000

Upgrade doors in Rory O Connor Hse and Dermot O Dwyer Hse  € 15,000

New Security Doors in Sheridan Court and Kevin Barry House € 15,000

Upgrading of the green area within Kevin Barry House € 10,000

Upgrade Pedestrian-Gate in Chancery House € 5,000

Resurface paths around trees Drumalee Estate.  € 15,000
