Gardaí investigating the burning of a vehicle in Stoneybatter on Tuesday night have provided me with a report into the lines of inquiry currently being pursued by local officers. Door to door inquiries are being undertaken as well as inquiries with petrol stations close to the area. Where CCTV is available that is being reviewed to see if any person(s) bought cans of petrol in the hours prior to the incident occurring. Gardaí in the Bridewell will keep me, as Chairman of the Dublin Central Policing District, updated of further developments. In addition to this, I will be highlighting the need for Dublin City Council to carry out some public realm improvements to protect and secure our local community. I will report back on this, following the Dublin Central Area Committee meeting next Tuesday.
