Killarney Court Christmas Tree Lighting
What a beautiful evening outside Killarney Court at the junction of Sean McDermott Street, Buckingham Street and Killarney Street I had today in the company of local residents and An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny T.D., Minister Paschal Donohoe and other local representatives, including former Lord Mayor, Cllr. Christy Burke.
An Taoiseach was invited to switch on the lights on the Christmas tree outside Killarney Court which commemorates those North Inner City residents who lost their lives to drug addiction over the past twenty five years or so. Family members decorated the tree with momentos of their loved ones. The Taoiseach was ably assisted by Evan O’Brien.
Despite the negative press recently about the Taoiseach’s presence at the event, he was warmly welcomed with local kids and the not so little ones taking selfies and having their pictures taken with him. Tonight however, was about remembering those that aren’t with us anymore. As always, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony was moving, emotional and an honour to be there with so many thoroughly decent people.
