Portland Row Depot Update
March 2024
Prior to Christmas, I shared with you details of plans being prepared by Dublin City Council and Tuath Housing in terms of redeveloping the Portland Row Maintenance Depot site.
As YOUR local Councillor, I wanted to keep you updated of developments in respect of this project.
You will remember that a public consultation session that took place in the Ballybough Community Centre, where significant concerns were raised about building height, loss of privacy, condition of the boundary wall and access to existing homes along Portland Row itself. Since then, I have been pursuing the status of this housing project with officials in the Housing Department of Dublin City Council.
On foot of my enquiries, on your behalf, I can confirm that a redesign of the development project is being undertaken by Dublin City Council and Tuath Housing. I do not yet have details of how the redesign looks but I have been assured that, as far as possible, local concerns are being taken into consideration.
It is my understanding that there are a number of outstanding issues that require addressing before
Tuath Housing and Dublin City Council provide a further briefing for Councillors. Please be assured that
I am, and will continue, to strongly argue for a further round of consultation with yourselves as local residents before any formal planning application is finalised for submission.
