New Moore Street Market set to begin on September 23rd

The 2021 Report of the Expert Group on the Moore Street Market recommended that further traders, vitality and diversity to street trading on Moore Street, to complement the existing street traders.
With that in mind, Dublin City Council issued a tender late last year seeking a Market Operator with a view to operate and manage that additional market offering along Moore Street. The Dublin Central Area Committee will consider, next Tuesday, the result of that tender process. An operator has been selected with a contract for a minimum of 12 months with the option to extend to beyond that period. From the initial discussions between the preferred Operator and Dublin City Council, it is anticipated the new market will operate Thursday through Sunday.
The Area Committee will consider how best the Council should engage with existing traders and retailers on Moore Street in terms of how best to advance the plans for this new and exciting market. Following our discussions on Tuesday, officials from the Office of City Recovery will undertake that engagement. I hope thereafter, specific details on market operations and enhancements to the streetscape can be finalised so that improvements can begin to be in place from September 23rd onwards.
As a Councillor for the North Inner City, I am really excited about the potential for of this improved market offering along Moore Street and prove to be a further attraction for visitors to our City Council and compliment the recent changes we have made in and around the Capel Street area. All in all, this is a project that I’ll be supporting wholeheartedly and will update you further after Tuesday’s meeting.
