On-street Cycle Parking stands – Update!

For those of living in the #NorthInnerCity and use a bike, it can be difficult to store it securely, given the largely limited amount of outdoor space. More often than not, the bike or bikes are clogging up the hall!
That’s why I have been engaging with the Transportation Department of Dublin City Council to advance the delivery of more ‘Sheffield Stand’ in residential neighbourhoods of the #NorthInnerCity, including Stoneybatter, the Markets and North Strand, for example, where outdoor space is often at a premium.
I’m pleased to report that a further round of On-Street Cycling Parking within the #DublinCentral area is being currently being prepared. Eight locations have been identified and I can confirm that design work is ongoing for each of the following locations, which include:
⁃ Oxmantown Road
⁃ Clare Road
⁃ Botanic Gardens Road
⁃ St Alphonsus Road Upper
⁃ Blackhall Street
⁃ Viking Place
⁃ Stoneybatter
⁃ Leinster Street North
It is envisaged that the Transportation Department will be able to go to tender for the construction works by late June. This being the case, I would hope these much needed cycle parking facilities will begin to be in place.
If there is adequate space on your street, where similar bicycle parking facilities can be installed, please get in touch with me by email at RayMcAdam@gmail.com and I’ll do my best to ensure they can be installed.
