Phoenix Park Gates & Closures

As you know the Phoenix Park gates were removed for the visit of Pope Francis and then were subject to restoration works. The OPW have advised that such is the level of restoration they should not require any further work for another 100 years.
The works involve the installation of the historic granite bollards, both inside and outside of each gate, the rehanging of the restored gates, and masonry work to the piers at each location.
In order to safely rehang the remaining gates, these access points will be required to close for the duration of the process.
- Ashtown Gate will be closed from 11pm on Tuesday 29th June until 7am Monday 5th July.
- Castleknock Gate will be closed from 7am on Wednesday 7th July until 7am Monday 12th July.
Please note, access for pedestrians will be maintained at these gates at all times and for the duration of the works.
The restoration works at Cabra Gate in the Park have now been completed and are now open. Last month, I had the opportunity to join OPW Minister, Patrick O’Donovan T.D. and other local representatives in meeting the team involved in these works.

North Road – Following completion of construction works, the North Road has since reopened.

If you require any further information on the Phoenix Park or any other issues please let me know.
