Progress Report on #DiamondPark refurbishment

Prior to Christmas, formal planning permission was approved by myself and my Councillor colleagues for the refurbishment of the Diamond Park on Sean McDermott Street.
I recently sought an update from Council officials as to the progress being made in implementing that planning permission. From information provided to me, I understand that the Design Team is now progressing the detailed design work required before seeking tenders of potential contractors. Notwithstanding the ongoing pandemic, Dublin City Council’s Parks Department is aiming to have the Construction team selected by the end of September next. All going plan, the selected contractor will be on site between October and Christmas.
Many people have asked me when is it hoped that the newly refurbished Diamond Park can be open to the public? Again, notwithstanding any further public health restrictions to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic, it is envisaged that the enhanced and upgraded Diamond Park can be accessed by the public by Summer 2022.
Let me assure you that I will work to keep updated of further progress in respect of this project across the coming months. Please get in touch with me if you have any questions or queries arising from the information outlined above.
