Constitution Hill regeneration – October 2020 Update

This afternoon, Dublin City Council personnel delivered the below update to households in Constitution Hill advising the progress that is being made in advancing the redevelopment of the complex and the plans Fine Gael in Government have to provide new and better homes for residents.

Dear Resident,

We are delighted to inform you that the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government has granted Stage 1 approval to Dublin City Council for the regeneration of the Constitution Hill complex.

We hope to have a design team in place by December 2020. This team will engage with the local community and elected representatives to develop a mixture of retrofit and new build housing and prepare a planning application.

Your new homes will be a mix of one, two, three and four bed apartments, built to modern standards and size. These homes will be larger, warmer, with greater storage and more energy efficient than the existing apartments.

A shared playground and green amenity areas will form a mixture of public and private spaces, which will provide a sense of community for residents. More green areas and a better-designed development will overlook public spaces improving security and addressing any anti-social behaviour.

I will be leading out consultations with my colleague Tommy Wilson over the next couple of months. While consultation with residents on the new development design is very important, given the current Covid 19 guidelines, we will explore the most effective and appropriate methods to consult with you.

In the meantime, we are available at 01 222 7310 and via email at marion.foran@dublincity.ie

Regards,

Housing Manager
