ROYAL CANAL GREENWAY RESIDENT’S MEETING

Royal Canal Greenway

Dear Resident,

Further to my recent update regarding the works taking place along the Royal Canal, I want to provide you with an update on the matter.

As indicated, I sought a commitment along with Councillors Burke & Fagan from Dublin City Council at the February meeting of the North Inner City Area Committee which sought:
following on from the recent JPC Policing Matters Public Meeting in East Wall, requests that the Area Manager met with Engineers along the Royal Canal to examine how best homes along Bellmans Walk, Ferrymans Crossing, Canon Lillis Avenue and Lower Oriel Street can be best secured and protected following the opening of the new cycle and pedestrian greenway along the Canal. Boundary walls have already been damaged and householders want these protections agreed prior to the main construction works beginning on site.

I am pleased to report that this motion was unanimously agreed.

Therefore, officials from Dublin City Council’s Environment and Transportation Department will attend a public meeting in connection with the construction of the Royal Canal Greenway (Sheriff Street Upper to North Strand Road). The Contractor and Designers will also be in attendance.

The agenda for the meeting will be:

1. Provision of temporary hoarding.
2. Repairs to boundary wall.
3. Potential damage to properties as a result of the construction works.
4. Out of hours working.
This meeting will take place at 5p.m. on Friday 8th March, 2019 in St. Laurence O’Toole Recreation Centre, Mariner’s Port. The meeting is specifically being organised to facilitate the answering or addressing of questions and concerns raised by residents and householders from Bellmans Walk, Ferrymans Crossing, Canon Lillis Avenue and Lower Oriel Street about the works due to take place.
I hope that you will be able to make it along. If, however, you have any further questions or queries arising from the details provided above, please come back to me at RayMcAdam@gmail.com or by phone at 086 847 1720.
As your LOCAL Councillor, I want to ensure local views are considered and queries clarified in advance of any formal construction work being undertaken on site.
I continue to work with Minister Paschal Donohoe in respect of all local issues. Please contact either one of us if we can be of help to you or your family.
