Lord Mayor McAdam launches “TwinkleTown” – Dublin’s Sparkling New Christmas Experience

In my inaugural address, I said I wanted to see a Christmas like no other in Dublin this year — one that shines across O’Connell Street, the North Inner City, and right through to every neighbourhood of our capital. That is exactly what TwinkleTown will deliver.

TwinkleTown, in partnership with Dublin City Council, will transform Smithfield Square into a festive wonderland from November 28th to January 4th, bringing a magical new Christmas tradition to the heart of Dublin. The experience will combine festive lights, culture, family entertainment, and a joyful atmosphere that celebrates everything that makes Dublin special at Christmas time.

As Lord Mayor of Dublin, I am delighted that this brand-new attraction reflects my mayoral theme of Celebrating Dublin — showcasing our city’s creativity, inclusiveness, and community spirit during the most wonderful time of the year.

Speaking today, Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdam said:
It’s fantastic to have a beautiful Christmas experience like TwinkleTown located right in the heart of our city on Smithfield Square. It’s going to be exciting, inclusive, family-friendly and a real bright spot in the city’s festive activities this year. I’m really looking forward to experiencing the sparkle of TwinkleTown with my own family this Christmas.”

At the heart of TwinkleTown will be the Santo Panto and the Magic Present Machine, a heart-warming original live show packed with music, laughter and festive magic. Each child attending will even receive an early gift from Santa Claus himself.

Beyond the stage, visitors can enjoy a full range of attractions and experiences, including:

  • A dazzling Ice Rink — offering fun for families, friends, and couples, with relaxed sessions available.
  • The Christmas Market — brimming with artisan gifts, festive food, and twinkling décor.
  • The Twinkle Tavern — a cosy retreat to savour a warm drink and soak up the atmosphere.
  • The Ferris Wheel and Vintage Fairground — perfect for creating picture-perfect festive memories.
  • The Spiegeltent — a stunning venue that will host a line-up of live music, performances, and cultural events celebrating Irish talent throughout December.

Entry to TwinkleTown is free of charge, with tickets required for selected attractions such as the Ice Rink and Santo Panto, available now at www.twinkletown.ie.

TwinkleTown will open Monday to Friday from 11am–9pm, and Saturday & Sunday from 10am–9pm, ensuring Dubliners and visitors alike can experience the magic at their leisure.

This festive season, TwinkleTown promises to be a celebration of Dublin at its brightest — a Christmas experience for all, right in the heart of our city.
