Celebrating Dublin’s Communities — Stoneybatter Pride of Place Wins Top Award

As Lord Mayor of Dublin, it was a great honour to host the 21st Annual Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards — an evening dedicated to celebrating the very heart and soul of our capital: our communities.
For more than two decades, these awards have shone a light on the extraordinary spirit of Dubliners — the residents, volunteers, community groups, schools, and local businesses who give their time, energy, and imagination to make our city better. From the northside to the southside, from the inner city to the suburbs, every corner of Dublin has its own story of pride and progress. Together, those stories weave the fabric of a cleaner, greener, and more vibrant Dublin — a living city powered by people who care deeply about the place they call home.
This year, Stoneybatter Pride of Place were crowned the overall winners of the 2025 Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards, receiving a prize fund of €4,500 in the Residential Category. Their achievement is a source of immense pride for their area and a shining example of community action at its very best.
The group was especially commended for their outstanding work in bringing colour, creativity, and collaboration to the heart of Stoneybatter. From the beautiful flowerbeds and planting along Manor Street to the transformation of Stoneybatter Green into a true community hub, their efforts show what’s possible when neighbours come together with purpose and passion.
Monthly clean-ups, which regularly draw more than 50 local volunteers, have become a hallmark of their civic pride. Their hard work also underpins the much-loved Stoneybatter Festival — a three-day celebration of food, arts, crafts, and community, which culminates in the pedestrianisation of Stoneybatter and Manor Street for a major street party that captures the true spirit of Dublin.

To be named the overall winner in a competition featuring 20 categories is a remarkable achievement — and one that reflects the commitment, creativity, and community pride that define Stoneybatter Pride of Place.
These awards remind us that the real strength of Dublin lies not in its buildings or its infrastructure, but in its people — in the volunteers who plant, paint, clean, and create; in the residents who look out for one another; and in the local leaders who help shape stronger, safer, and more inclusive neighbourhoods.
As Lord Mayor, I am deeply proud to celebrate that spirit. Congratulations to Stoneybatter Pride of Place on their richly deserved win — and to all the communities, schools, and businesses who continue to make Dublin the living, active, and engaged city we are proud to call home.
