#BikeBunker project moving forward

There continues to be much interest in the Bike Bunker project across the city, but particularly so in communities across the North Inner City. As you know, I have been committed to delivering this project in as quickly a timeframe as possible. Indeed, I worked to specifically have the Bike Bunker project prioritised in the Delivering for Dublin Agreement reached between Fine Gael, Labour, the Greens and Fianna Fail on Dublin City Council after the Local Elections last June.
At the January City Council meeting earlier this month, I sought a progress report from the Transportation Department. Officials confirmed that the Council is “in the middle of a procurement process to provide a bike bunker programme”.
That procurement process has been advanced in two phases. The first was completed prior to Christmas with the second concluding this week. Based on this, I expect a programme delivery contractor to be selected by the end of March.
The City Council is attempting to manage the existing service in as equitable a way as possible. Officials have assured me that where a user of an existing bunker withdraws and a space becomes available, anyone who has registered their interest and living local to that bunker are being contacted to avail of that vacant space.
I hope this update of interest to you but please get in touch with me by email: RayMcAdam@gmail.com or through any of my social media channels.
