#NorthInnerCity Weed Removal Programme – June 2023 Update

Last month I shared an update on the City Council’s programme of weed removal across the North Inner City.
Ahead of next week’s meeting of the Dublin Central Area Committee, which I chair, I sought further details from the Public Domain Section as to the current status of the programme and the works planned across June.
Greentown Environmental Services, the Council’s weed removal contractor, started work across the North Inner City this week spraying foam stream in areas near water courses. The contractor will be working throughout the night next week using quads and vinegar in knapsack sprayers. I understand that Greentown Environmental Services expect to have the area completed within ten days. It will take a further two weeks for the growth to die back.
The new weed machine was off the road for two weeks due to repairs. Local Public Domain crews will be using it again from this week and are meticulously working through a list of streets I’ve asked them to prioritise. Keep an eye out for its use on your street.
Please contact me by the end of June if you feel the quality of weeding or weed removal has not been completed to a satisfactory level.
