Reimaging Dublin One Plan – Progress Report

In 2017 Dublin City Council invited the American Institute of Architects to come to Dublin with a view to providing an impetus for a new vision for the Dublin 1 area (Dublin One) from O’Connell Street to Capel Street and from the quays to Parnell Street. Following intensive workshops and discussion the ‘Reimagining Dublin One Laneways’ strategy document was produced.

I have attached a link to the strategy document for your easy access – https://bit.ly/3b5ncIX.

2020 Works

Last year, the City Council has been developing and implementing initiatives outlined in the Reimaging Dublin One strategy document including the upgrade of the public realm on Wolf Tone Street Upper close to the junction with Parnell Street.

Planned Works in 2021

Further significant improvement works for Liffey Street Upper and Lower will get underway this year with construction tender documents due to issue shortly. Design proposals for Mary Street, North Lotts and the implementation of the Lanes Strategy will be the subject of public consultation in the coming months, to allow agreed design improvement proposals to be brought forward for implementation on 2021/2022.

Finally, the Chief Executive has confirmed to me that a number of smaller public realm improvements as identified in the Plan will also be prioritised throughout this year. I am seeking further information on the timelines for the delivery of each of these works and will post those details when they are available to me.
